Setup Boot Manager Grayed Out after Win 8.1 Install.

I installed Partition Manager 14 Home Win XP 32bit verson under Win XP 32bit. I did "New OS Install" then Setup Boot Manager.

I installed Win 8.1 on the new partition. Installed 64 bit Partition Manager 14 Home under Win 8.1 and the "Setup Boot Manager" menu item is grayed out.

Setup Boot Manager greyed out

My sole reason for buying Paragon Hard Disk Manager 14 Suite (just earlier today) is to fix a broken boot process or MBR.
Yet the option to "Setup Boot Manager" is greyed out. why? How do I get into what is for me the most important part of this product?

Thanks

new to create new boot sector

I had a dual boot installation, had W7 installed first and later created a dual-boot system and added W8.1 on a 256GB ssd.
I am not using W7 anymore so I went back to a single boot configuration some time ago. As I was running low on the diskspace on that ssd I decided to get rid of the W7 particion which HDM 14 let me do without any problem. Only to find out now that W8.1 was apparently using the boot manager on the W7 partition and I could not boot any more. So I am stuck!

I have now...

P2P Adjust OS?

I want to use the function making system bootable on a different computer hardware (P2P Adjust OS), the idea is to migrate my old laptop hard disk to a new laptop.

I’m looking at the user manual of the HDM 14 Suite and it says that “Your OS is Unrolled on the new computer” I just don’t understand what they mean by that, since it defeats the point on migrating the old HDD?

Weird Partition Display

I have used Paragon Hard Disk Manager in various versions for years and am currently on V12.

I have to wipe and restore to factory condition a pair of HP Compaq nx6325 laptops with 80GB drives, that someone else seems to have had a go at to delete the O/S before they got to me.

However Paragon shows multiple disk drives installed on both machines, with
HDD 0 - Normal partitioning scheme
HDD 16
HDD 32
HDD 48
These last three (non-existent) drives are each displayed as having multiple...

My Windows boot disk went missing

Hi,

Yesterday, I started Paragon Camptune X to reorganize my partitions, to move some more space to Windows from my 1 TB disk in the mid-2010 iMac, now running Mavericks.

This morning after 18 hours (!) of saying "Please be patient. 0% progress" it looks like it finished, but after rebooting my Windows partition is no longer there in the System Settings -> Start Disk selector.

What should I do?

Is MBR updated during a system partition move

$

My general question:

Does Paragon Partition Manager update the MBR when it moves a system partition from location a to location b on the same hard drive.

My specific question:

My hard drive is divided into two primary systems partitions, and one logical data partition. Partition D for Win 7, partition C for Win XP (active partition), and partition E for data. If I delete data partition E and move partition C to that location, will the software update the MBR to reflect the new location?...

Error 69669 (x11025) Unable to write file during scheduled backup

Hi,
Lately, my weekly scheduled backups have been failing with an error code of x11025 and the message "Unable to write file". This appears to happen after my 3 primary partitions have been backed up - sometime during the backup of my 5 logical drives.
The error occurs only during a scheduled backup; I am always able to successfully backup my drive when I initiate it manually.
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks,

How to mount backup volume in HDM 15?

hi, have problem to mount a single volume from vbackup image in Hdm15:
in 14 serie this worked, locate in Archives view the single volume image (.PBF directly), add it to HDM database, then right click on the volume in database view and choose mount as virtual drive.
Hdm15: all volumes are backup to single container. I can't add an individual volume to datbase thus can't use the mount volume. Extracting from backup also doesn't work (due to EFS encryption)

VirtualBox read-only error from P2V created image.

I just made a backup of a physical computer running Windows 7 using Paragon P2V. This computer has two drives, one 20GB SSD for booting and one 300GB hard drive for storage however Windows sees them both as a single drive. Paragon made ".vdi" images of both drives.

I created a virtual computer in VirtualBox using both ".vdi"s with the SSD as the boot drive. Trying to start the virtual machine gives the following error:

Sector Increment to VD

HI

Regarding to product comparison table, all Hard Disk Manager 15 Editions seem to lack the named feature compared to Backup & Recovery Home. If that's not by error, what actually HDM is missing?
In fact I'm able to make incremental volume backups (not file level) to pVHD by HDM.

Referring the feature description from web site:

convert mbr to gpt leaves disk unbootable

I have a thinkpad running win7-64 off an mSATA boot drive. I had hoped to convert the MBR to GPT using partition manager 14. After the conversion, the disk was unbootable. I tried the BIOS set to Legacy first or UEFI first, with no success. I ended up recovering by booting with Paragon recovery media, then converting back to MBR. The disk was still not bootable, but I then used a win7 install disk to do a repair. Any suggestions about how to do this?

First time User - *very long scanning*??

Hi

I just started Paragon Camptune X for the first time on my MAC - it has a message "Your system is being scanned for a Boot Camp Configuration" - this has been on there now for over 30minutes - is that normal? There is certainly a bootcamp partition on there but it is just constantly scanning. In the instructions there is no mention that this might take a very long time... ?

Differential AND incremental restore

I'm VERY confused. It's easy to make a differential or incremental BACKUP. But what about RESTORING a differential and incremental restore? The confusion lies in which file to select to restore. Do I select the LATEST file to restore, and that will restore absolutely everything on the hard drive, at the chronological point on the timeline, of the moment you backed it up differentially/incrementally? All I hear about is backing up, but not restoring, incremental or differential backups.

Using unallocated space

This should be easy....I must be missing something.

I had a 500gb hard drive in my computer and replaced it with a 1TB hard drive.

I did a quick format of the new drive to make a simple volume of 1TB, then restored the computer from a backup image. The computer runs fine, except the backup software left the extra 500gb of the new hard drive as unallocated space.

I want to extend drive C: to include the unallocated space. But when try to merge or extend, I get a warning that if I do this,...

Copy Partition Failed with "Bad parameter of function" error.

On a Windows 7 computer, I am attempting to copy a partition to a brand new Western Digital external hard driver. I have attempted this copy partition action twice now, and it has failed both times with the cryptic error: Bad parameter of function (source: Hard Disk Manager).

I have looked at other posts but haven't found anything there to help me. I am stumped.

I am not an IT guy, but just someone trying to back up several TBs of data. I have zero ideas how to actually address this problem....

PHDM14 suite doesn't contain Boot Manager Confirmed

As the title suggests PHDM14suite doesnt contain the Boot Manager software as advertised. This has been confirmed by Paragon as an ommission due to technical issues.

I appreciate that you have offered me a version of v12 to extract it from. But I was buying in to v14 in the hope that the Boot Manager would be up to date with all the latest GUID and hidden partition requirements of Windows 8.

Every boot manager I can see hasnt caught up yet with proper GUID and EFI support. And if they do...
